The makeup brushes I use the most

A breakdown of my favorite brushes by category + video tutorial featuring my scary morning menstruation face.

What’s the deal with makeup brushes? Are they THAT crucial to makeup application? And how many do we really need to achieve a lovely, natural makeup look?

I sat with these questions for a bit and I can say with the utmost confidence that makeup brushes do indeed make the biggest difference in makeup application. Surely some of you have experienced a specific kind of low-level terror when you suddenly look like a clown after using a shitty brush.

Might be a good time to mention my #1 rule when it comes to brushes. The smaller the brush head, the better. You can always add more when you have a brush that covers a smaller surface. On the flip side, if you use a big fluffy brush, you run the risk of depositing too much product on too large of an area. Then you have to either blend, blend, blend or wash your damn face and start over. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

So, yes. Makeup brushes are key, but you only need about 5. Eh, I could get away with 4. Let’s break it down into categories and then watch said brushes in action.
