My most-worn shoes of the season
I wear these boots with just about anything. (Maybe not athleisure, but the year is young, y'all.)
This newsletter is sponsored by MATCHES. I’m beside myself that they wanted to collaborate, as they are one of my favorite online retailers.
Hello, and Happy New Year! Did you have a nice holiday break? I caught some weird viral thing just before my trip to New York in early December and the remnants of congestion and fatigue have lowkey hung around all month. I’m sure all the holiday events didn’t help, as we had a busier-than-usual party season. (Did you catch my holiday outfits? Getting dressed up might be one of my favorite things ever.)
I’ve been in major closet-editing mode over the break - trying to analyze what works and what doesn’t and I, like most, wear about 10% of my closet 90% of the time. Why I can’t remember this while I’m racking up the purchases, I will never understaaaaand. #DOPAMINE *shaking fists at sky*
When it comes to shoes, 9 times out of 10, I’m donning a classic loafer, sneaker, or boot. (Ballet flats and heels like to make appearances too, naturally.)
However, this season, one pair has been my loyal companion and worn oh so many times, the Legres 08 Leather Boot, which I purchased from, you guessed it, MATCHES. This boot is my workhorse, as it has the feel of a lace-up combat boot, but its minimal lines, simplicity, and classic sole make it so easy to dress up.
As a special gift, MATCHES has provided me with a code to share with you! A 15% discount when you use SARAHJ15 at checkout. I've included the terms and conditions at the bottom of this article for your reference.
Let’s take a look at some of the ways I’ve recently styled the Legres 08 boot.

Cozy sweaters + cropped pants. (Yes, these are the infamous High Sport pants, and yes, they are worth every penny. Cost per wear is incredible.)

I mean…how adorable with dresses? My only rule is that the hem of the dress covers the top of the boot during winter.

Cropped, wide-leg jeans are my thing right now and I love the overall shape they create when paired with the boots.
However, the boots are also slender enough through the upper shaft to look great with slimmer jeans.

Knits! Flared maxi skirts! A lovely combo.

You didn’t think I wouldn’t include a blazer, did you? Do you even know me?

This has all my favorites combined. You know my adoration for tie-neck blouses runs deep + a chunky knit vest + slouchy long denim. On most days I would probably combine this particular look with a pointed-toe boot, but the Legres boots still look great.

If I were to pair a more Western-inspired, pointed-toe boot, it might be too much with this denim shirt, but these boots balance the look perfectly.
This is a go-to look for me - a striped tee, trench coat, and the Nili Lotan Shon pants are on mega rotation these days. (Size down at least one in this style! I’m wearing a 00 in this photo.)

Finally, how charming is this pairing with one of my beloved knit sweater/skirt sets? Gives it just enough edge for a day out and about while keeping your ankles warm. Look at me, worried about your ankles.
I hope this gives you a little inspiration for the colder months ahead. Maybe a coat post should be next in the queue…that or my recent full-on obsession with socks.

You got me girl! I was going to hold off on shopping for January but the boots... had to. Ok, no shopping starting AFTER today.
I was thinking how much I appreciate your style after looking at all these. Classic and elegant and still so modern. Have put multiple pairs of these pants on my wishlist, to buy after I spend the next few months on my fitness journey. Happy new year!
How absolutely stunning and edgy! Thanks for helping women look incredible while not trying to look like the young kids! These are all classics that I’ll be getting inspiration from.
